Back in the Christmas of 1999, Cindy Crawford was invited on Good Morning America to prepare her family’s version of monkey bread. Keep in mind, this segment ran during a time period where carbohydrates were viewed negatively in a culture where Dr. Atkins and protein laden diets were king.
Surprisingly, her recipe defied the odds, proving testament to the power of monkey bread and it became one of the two most requested recipes of 2002 in the Chicago Sun-Times Swap Shop column. It was quite the feat. If you are curious to exactly what makes this monkey bread so amazing, we have included the recipe below.
- 2 loaves white bread, uncooked
- 1 stick butter, melted
- 2 cup sugar
- 2 tablespoons cinnamon
So, what is the best way to put his masterpiece together? You can start here.
You’ll want to first make sure to thaw the bread dough overnight in refrigerator. Once it becomes soft, find yourself some scissors and slice and dice everything into one inch pieces or a similar size. Your choice. Next, go ahead and dip the dough into melted butter and roll it around in sugar with cinnamon. Now you are making some solid headway. Here’s what is up next.
Find yourself a bundt pan and then line the bottom of it. Perfect. You can now start to layer in evenly. All that is left is the cooking part. For the perfect temperature, we recommend cooking at the recommended heat on the dough packaging. You should do this for about one hour until everything is golden and hard on top. You are almost done.
Can you smell and taste it? We can.
Finally, you’ll want to let it sit with a pan on top for just a few minutes. You can then garnish it with anything of your liking. Done and done.
Serve and enjoy!
